Jorge Alab? is a known master drummer of the escolas de Samba of Rio de
Janeiro. He spent 30 years playing for the most respected Candomblé Houses
in Brazil and for the last 20 years he has held the title of "Alab?" which
means that he has obtained the highest level a drummer can obtain in the
Candomblé religion. For 15 years he was a member of "Oba Oba,"
an international showcase of Brazilian music and dance. Recently he did a
residency with first escola de samba established in New Orleans, Casa Samba.
His featured in various recordings, including Michael Spiro & Mark Lamson's
"Bata Ketu" and Milton Nascimento's "Missa Dos Quilombos."
