Short Cuts Cinema screens the 50th Annual Ann Arbor Film Festival in the Studio Theatre. A selection of seven international short films. A FREE SCREENING.

FREE ADMISSION -  but please pre book your ticket

Ann Arbor is
America's longest-running independent film festival and celebrated its 50th anniversary in March 2012. It has pioneered the concept of the travelling film
festival tour, bringing films to venues that represent the only means for new
and challenging filmmakers to have their work seen by appreciative audiences. We
are proud to be hosting the tour for the second year running, the only UK host.

The 50th Ann Arbor
Film Festival presented 233 films, videos and live performances over 6 days,
including more than 30 premieres of new work.

Featuring
filmmakers from the USA, Spain and Germany, this selection of seven films from
2012's festival includes the winner of the Michael Moore Award for Best
Documentary and jury and audience favourites, embracing the genres of
documentary, animation, short narrative feature and experimental video.

From János Richter's Guañape Sur, the remarkable award-winning documentary about a Peruvian island
that must remain uninhabited for ten years until each eleventh year the
gathering of valuable bird excrement is allowed, to Laura Heit's haunting
animation The Deep Dark, the short
films collected here demonstrate Ann Arbor's promotion of young and talented
filmmakers from across the world. Come along and see some of the filmmakers who
will shape the future!
