Destry Sparks is the featured artist for the FOURTH FRIDAY, FEBRUARY art show and reception at Art Works. Under his hand, he brings driftwood, burlap and parched bones to the canvas and creates organic art using ancient and modern methods.
Four other artists have been busy creating solo shows to open on FOURTH FRIDAY along with the monthly-juried ALL MEDIA SHOW. And the RVA Dance Collective, winners of the 2010 Theresa Pollack award will perform at 8 p.m. on opening night.
Join us on February 25th, 7-10 p.m. for the FOURTH FRIDAY art shows and reception. The exhibits continue through March 20, 2011. This event is free and open to the public

Destry Sparks
From Greenville, North Carolina, Destry Sparks is a contemporary mixed media painter using found objects to create a visceral effect upon the surface of his works. He brings a very tangible element to painting. Sparks exhibits in North Carolina Virginia and southern California and was a prizewinner in the 2010 Richmond Earth Day Recycled Art Show.

NATURE’S BEAUTY
Tish Underwood
This exhibit is the product of Tish Underwood’s travels through U.S. State parks. She captures both esoteric and familiar beauty of the land in unique methods and unusual detail.
RECENT WORKS BY JARED SLACK
Jared T. Slack, painter, professor and award winning artist brings a body of work to Art Works’ Centre Gallery East. He studied art in Utah State where he earned his B.F.A. Painting and then at Miami University at Oxford, Ohio where he earned his M.F.A. Painting. See his website www.jaredslack.com for a view of his abstracts and landscapes.

RECENT WORKS BY MARY JANE ZANDER
Dr. Mary Jane Zander will present her artwork in the Corner Gallery. Intrigued with all aspects of science and art, her current work is about new beginnings. Since retiring as a college professor of art education, Dr. Mary Jane Zander has dusted off her paintbrushes and begun to do what she always really wanted to do: combine her love of art, learning, and the study of the natural world.

RECENT WORKS BY DIANE CLEMENT
Diane Clement, abstract artist will present a new body of artwork in the Skylight Gallery. Diane started her fine art career in 2003. She has showed in over 70 shows, over 40 of those as the featured, or solo artist. Her abstract work has been collected heavily in Virginia and has found homes in New York, D.C., Arizona and California. She has been published in newspapers and magazines in and around Richmond, and her work has headed calendars and been photographed for decorating jobs and magazines.

ALL MEDIA ART SHOW
Each month Art Works offers artists from all over to participate in a juried art show. Amie Oliver will jury the show. Submissions to Art Works All Media Show are accepted from any artist and any medium. Call for Entries is on February 18th and 19th, 2011. There is a small entry fee.
