Larkspur CA- The Lark Theater cares about the future of filmmaking and they are investing in the creative talents of our youth. See the creations of young auteurs on the big screen at the Larks popular 4th annual Youth Film Festival. This is a competitive festival with two film maker age categories, 10-13 and 14-18. Tickets are $10.

The Youth Film Festival is beginning to garner a National reputation. This is the first year that films were submitted from student outside the Bay Area coming from Orange County in Southern California, Bloomington, Indiana and Baltimore, Maryland! Local Students who entered films came from Sir Francis Drake HS, Redwood HS, Tamalpais HS, Branson, Del Mar Middle, Davidson Middle, Hall Middle, Marin Country Day School and Analy HS in Sebastopol.

Bernice Baeza, executive director of the Lark hopes not only to give kids a chance to show their films on the big screen but also to inspire the next generation of filmmakers. “We have to create filmmakers of the future, especially in Northern California where we’ve lost so much of our film business”.

Judging this year’s films will be some heavyweights in the film business: James Hirsch - award winning screenwriter and producer and co creator HBO series "Rome,"
Geoff Callan – Classically trained actor and screen personality who has appeared many films Most recently, in a co-starring role in The Pursuit of Happyness, starring Will Smith, Zodiac, Directed by David Fincher and in Bottle Shock, and Jordan Livingston - Independent Bay Area filmmaker.

The twenty films that passed the first cut and will be shown fit one of the four film categories: Documentary, Narrative, Music and “Green” Theme. The film running time is limited to less than 12 minutes. This event is sponsored by the City of Larkspur and The Lark Theater, a 501c3 Non-Profit community Film Center.
