Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán is known across the globe as el mejor mariachi del mundo (the greatest mariachi in the world) and it only takes one time to see their concert to understand why. The group is made up of 13 of the finest musicians and vocalists in all of Latin America who perform mariachi songs utilizing traditional mariachi instrumentation like the violin, trumpet, harp, guitarrón, guitar and vihuela. The group has been in existence for 114 years and five generations and sets the standard for the mariachi music industry with hundreds of original recordings and arrangements of songs both new and classic. Mariachi Vargas is well known for their flawless performances and elegant stage presence. This, combined with their phenomenal voices, gives concert goers an experience that keeps them coming back year after year. Mariachi Vargas resonates pride and appreciation for Latin American music and culture and has literally changed the landscape of arts and entertainment. Their live performance will feature favorites such as El Pastor, Por Amor and Hermoso Cariño as well as songs with symphonic and operatic influences that are beyond the imagination.

The internationally acclaimed and Mexico City based Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán performs in Corpus Christi for the 4th consecutive year on Saturday, May 21 thanks to presenting sponsors Sames Crow Ford Lincoln and State Farm Insurance. Additional support is provided by the Corpus Christi Caller Times and KORO-TV. The concert takes place at the Richardson Performance Hall located on the campus of Del Mar College. The newly renovated facility offers an intimate and unique experience with state of the art sound and lighting.
