The Capitol Movement Project is a diverse dance concert displaying works from celebrity and local choreographers. The routines embrace multiple genres of dance, including Broadway, tap, jazz, modern, and hip hop . Our talented performers range in age from 7 to 46 years old, and is the largest dance company in Washington D.C. with 90 dancers.
Since becoming an official 501(c)(3) organization, Capitol Movement, Inc. (CMI) has offered free summer dance camps to more than 550 children in all wards of the District. We have also given $10,000 in financial scholarships to underprivledged youth seeking training opportunities at elite dance institutions. During the 2008-2009 school year, CMI is teaching free dance classes after school. Participants of our youth programs are also considered for scholarships to attend workshops and train for free in our Capitol Kidz program, giving them their first performance opportunities and experience to dance at Washington Wizards NBA home games.
