The public is invited to PEN Oakland and California College of the Arts production of 4 x 4 Plays, staged readings to support news works by local playwrights directed by Carla Blank and Hal Gelb.

The San Francisco premier of 4 x 4 Plays will take place at Timken Theatre at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, 1111 Eighth Street (at 16th and Wisconsin ), Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15 at 8 PM. Performances will also take place at Live Oak Theatre in Berkeley, 1301 Shattuck Avenue (at Berryman), Thursday and Friday, March 26 & 27 at 8 PM. Tickets are $7 for students, seniors, and PEN Oakland members, and $10 for the general public. All shows at Timken Theatre are free to CCA students
4 x 4 Plays include: Under Burning White Sky, a poetic rendering of the history and magic of Haiti, by Boadiba; The Murder of Mother Mike, an intense, psychological drama in which words bully, distance, heal and perhaps kill, by Claire Ortalda; Jack In Ghost-Town, in which Beat novelist Jack Kerouac is haunted by the colorful personages from his past, by Gerald Nicosia; and Bathroom Graffiti Queen, in which a homeless woman becomes the 'Dear Abby' of a public restroom, by Opal Palmer Odisa.
