After the dissolve of weekly Latin nights at Stateline, BB Flanders of Reno Truckee Salsa has teamed up with sizzling Salsa lovers in South Lake, Reno and Truckee and will be teaching a one of kind dance workshop that is sure to reignite the Latin dance scene around the Lake.

Everyone comes to Salsa with different dance experience. BB Flanders promises to provide quality Salsa lessons for ALL levels! Whether you have been dancing for years or just starting out, this intensive workshop is sure to build a foundation, expose you to new styles or fine tune the Salsa technique you already have.

You can look forward to learning “the basic” step which is the foundation of all Salsa moves, turns and styling. Feet, hips, ribs, shoulders and arms all moving together in syncopation, oh my! You’ll quickly learn that “the basic” is more complicated than its name eludes. In addition to learning the foundation of Salsa moves and the history and influences on Salsa dance, BB Flanders will break down musical rhythms, partner techniques, turns, footwork and movement sequencing so much that by the end of four weeks you will be ready to show off your new moves on the dance floor.

A very special Casino Rueda lesson is included in the four week workshop. Casino Rueda is a group Salsa dance guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Casino is a style of Salsa from Cuba and Rueda means “circle”. So, basically, Casino Rueda means Salsa in a circle. Danced in a group of couples with one caller, partners do a move sequence then switch to the next person. Known for its fast pace, Casino Rueda is great for helping all levels of dancers pick up the tempo in your one-on-one Salsa.

BB of Reno Truckee Salsa has been dancing Salsa for over 10 years and teaching since 2002. He regularly studies salsa with top salsa dance instructors from around the world. His current salsa teachers are John and Liz of Salsamania in Oakland, CA, ranked fifth in the world and he is endorsed to teach Bachata by Rodney “Rodchata” Aquino, the most respected Bachata instructor in the Bay area. BB of Reno Truckee Salsa also has been asked to teach at salsa conferences such as the Reno Dance Sensation and the Palm Springs Summer Salsa Splash. With over 120 active students currently enrolled in weekly salsa lessons in the Reno/Truckee area, he feels confident you’re learning a dance with a strong following that’s embraced by anyone that has heard about this exotic blend of Afro-Cuban-Caribbean music that is globally recognized as “Salsa.”
