(3rd Annual Lung Cancer Research Foundation Symposium, kicking off Lung Cancer Awareness Month)

Despite lung cancer being the leading cause of cancer death worldwide, less than half of Americans are aware of this devastating statistic. Additionally, lung cancer is profoundly underfunded, and receives nine-times less funding than breast cancer. The Symposium is one way in which the Lung Cancer Research Foundation is able to raise awareness for lung cancer and educate the public about the current advancements in lung cancer research through grant recipients and panelists. Attendees will hear from leading experts in the field of lung cancer followed by an interactive question and answer period.

Panelists include:
• Christina Baik, MD, MPH -- Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Lung, Head and Neck Program Instructor, University of Washington School of Medicine Staff Scientist, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
• Ralph Weichselbaum, MD -- Chairman, Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology; Director, Ludwig Center for Metastasis Research, The University of Chicago Medical Center (Keynote Speaker)
• Jane Bowling, DSW, LCSW -- Director, Division of Social Work, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
• James Welsh, MD -- Assistant, Thoracic Division of Radiation Oncology, MD Anderson Cancer Center
