3rd Annual Book Passage Children's Writers & Illustrators Conference June 18, 2009

This four-day Conference builds upon a strong tradition of Book Passage Conferences. We have taken the best of the classes that we have offered in children’s writing & illustration, and put together a Conference that gives authors & illustrators everything they need. The Conference covers all aspects of illustrating & writing for children—from developing ideas and honing skills to finding a publisher. Students work closely with other writers and illustrators, as well as with agents, editors, and publishers. The Conference is designed to meet the differing needs of those who create for different age groups. Students choose an area of interest for the morning sessions—e.g. picture books, early readers, young adult books, or illustration—and then work with a teacher or teachers on that subject. In the afternoons, students choose from panels of common interest, such as working with an editor, finding an agent, marketing and promotion. There will be many opportunities for faculty and students to talk, laugh, and exchange ideas in classes, workshops, panels, and informal lunches.

The cost of the four-day conference is $450, which includes the opening night dinner and all lunches. Optional consultations are available to conference participants for an additional $95.
