Dear Friends and Colleagues

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 39th Annual Meeting of the ESDR and to Budapest, a city called the Queen of the Danube. The meeting organisers together with the Hungarian Dermatological Society have selected the Semmelweis University as the main venue for this event, a place where Stephen Rothman, founder of investigative dermatology studied and worked.

Hungary has a long history of bridging the Eastern and Western parts of Europe and we expect a great turnout for this event, especially because a significant number of first-time attendees are expected from the Eastern part of our continent in addition to the high number of participants from Europe, and the rest of the world, who usually attend the meeting.

The Budapest meeting will be a place for seeing old friends, making new acquaintances, generating innovative ideas and developing scientific collaborations. ESDR annual meetings are traditionally of high scientific value, within a casual academic atmosphere, and are often the place where exciting new results of disease pathogenesis and novel therapies relevant to clinical dermatology are first reported. This combination provides a stimulating environment that is highly enjoyable and facilitates scientific interactions which lead to important dermatological advances.

Join the ESDR in Budapest, a city of science, art and tradition. The combination of the thought-provoking research of the ESDR annual meeting and the relaxed atmosphere of Budapest, which is famous for its hospitality, ensures that the ESDR 2009 will be an excellent event.
