This workshop is held in Rennes, France, October 16-17, 2008. Its purpose is to bring together junior researchers working on real-time systems (PhD students, postdoc, ...) .

The workshop will provide a relaxed forum to present and discuss new ideas, new research directions, and to review current trends in this area. The workshop will be based on short presentations that should encourage discussion by the conference attendees.

The topics of the workshop include those of the RTNS 2008 conference :

* Real-Time Distributed Systems
* Middleware, Architecture Supports
* Wired and Wireless Networks, Sensor Networks, Field-buses
* Embedded Operating Systems, Real-Time Programming Language
* Real-Time Software Engineering, System Development Tools
* Quality of Service, Worst-Case Execution Time
* Task Scheduling, Message Scheduling
* Fault-Tolerance
* Specification, Modeling, Verification, Evaluation
* Synchronous Languages
* Energy Management
* Data Transfer Protocol, Networked Control Systems

The submissions should be co-authored by at least a junior researcher. The submission should be a short paper (single-space, 4-pages, double-column). RTNS 2008's Author's Kit is recommended for submission (author's kit resources). The first page contains the title, the authors and their affiliation as well as an abstract and few keywords. The accepted papers are presented in a poster session (short presentation to the RTNS participants + poster). A separate booklet containing the proceedings will be available at the conference and on the web page of the conference.
