Rising Stars Concert Returns To the Hayti Heritage Center

The 2nd Annual concert, honoring the late Dean Janice L. Mills will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Fayetteville Street, Durham, North Carolina beginning at 7:30pm. Proceeds from this concert will provide funding for scholarships that will be awarded to aspiring law school students. We want to ensure that students meeting the established criteria have access to scholarship funds for years to come.

The Janice L. Mills Scholarship Foundation and North Carolina Central Law School cordially invites you to help us keeps Janice’s memory and passion for education alive as we present the second annual “Rising Stars Concert.
This annual fundraising event is produced by Fred Mills, Janice’s brother and founder of the popular band Sweet Dreams. Rising Stars Concert is Fred’s way of honoring his late sister and her commitment to higher education.

The 2010 concert will feature a remarkable vocalist from Charlotte, NC--Kevin and the Kevin Jones Experience. Back by popular demand, the neo-soul vocalist Tanya Ross returns with the Tanya Ross Project. This year I wanted to present some young artists that truly represent “rising stars.” My search ended with Pete’s Kids from Greensboro, NC. The group consists of middle and high school students that perform traditional jazz. Also, longtime friend and musician, Mr. Larry Clay, will present a vocal dedication in Janice’s honor.

We look forward to your participation and support as we honor Janice’s memory and generate funds for future lawyers and deans. Tickets are on sale at the Hayti box office 919-683-1709 EXT 21

Feel free to contact the event manager, Fred H. Mills at 919-683-5245, if you have questions or require additional information.
