The 2nd Annual International Holocaust Remembrance Exhibit will take place once again this year in Richmond, VA at Art 6 Gallery. The exhibit is scheduled to open on the traditional First Friday Art Walk on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 6:30 pm and continue through May 31, 2010. Opening night will include music by the Yiddish Folk Group My Son the Doctor and showcase artwork from Hungary, South America, Europe and Israel.

Events meant to bring awareness to the Holocaust and Yom Ha Shoah will continue at Art 6 throughout the month and include poetry, spoken-word, Jewish storytelling, film and featured speakers. Once again, the Virginia Holocaust Museum is providing exhibit materials for the event.

Jewish artist, sculptor and chairman of the Art 6 Gallery exhibition committee, David Turner says he sought to dedicate part of the exhibition year to educating the community at large about the Holocaust.

“Last year over 3,000 Richmonders were able to experience an entire month of powerful events related to Yom Ha Shoah and the Holocaust,” Turner says. “One man even asked permission to use the event as a backdrop to propose to his future bride! “

In addition to the visual art exhibition, this year will also showcase a new production about Jewish Identity entitled “Chaidentity,” created by the sons of two holocaust survivors (award-winning author Eliezer Sobel and award-winning storyteller, Slash Coleman). This event will take place on May 29th, 2010 at 7:00 pm.
