Charismatic troubadour Keb’ Mo’, born Kevin Moore, is a latter-day blues master who absorbed the music’s roots directly from the source, jamming with Albert Collins and Big Joe Turner. After rambling around the music world for two decades he made a powerful impression with his eponymous 1994 debut on Epic, which features deft acoustic guitar work and sturdy original tunes alongside classics by Robert Johnson. His second and third albums, 1996’s Just Like You and 1998’s Slow Down, each won a Grammy® Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. He returned with another dose of Delta soul with 2004’s Keep It Simple, which earned Keb’ Mo’ a third Grammy. His pleasingly gruff voice and striking stage presence have attracted attention outside of blues circles, most recently when filmmaker John Sayles featured him in the 2007 movie Honeydripper.

Solomon Burke gave up his first career as a preacher to help pioneer the sound of soul music in the early 1960s. He ensured his legendary status with enduring hits like “Cry to Me” and “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” (which was covered by the Rolling Stones). Resurgent since his 2002 masterpiece Don’t Give Up On Me won a Grammy® Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album, last year Burke delivered Like A Fire – another classic, featuring songs written specifically for him by Ben Harper, Keb' Mo' and Eric Clapton. All in all, this blistering bash promises to be the major blues event of 2009.
