The 27th annual joint meeting of the Society for Ancient Greek Philosophy and the Society for the Study of Islamic Philosophy will take place at the Lincoln Center Campus of Fordham University, in New York City, from October 16-18, 2009.

At the conference over 175 scholars will present papers on Ancient Greek and Islamic philosophy; academic societies devoted to Asian, Tibetan, and Indian philosophy will also hold meetings during the conference. The conference commences Friday night with a banquet and a plenary session at which Professors Richard Sorabji, Phillip Mitsis, and Katja Maria Vogt will address the question of whether Stoicism espouses a political theory. Concurrent conference panels will run throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Non-participants are cordially invited to attend conference sessions at no cost on Saturday and Sunday; non-participants interested in attending the Friday night banquet and plenary session are asked to register beforehand (for information on which please see the 3rd page of the conference program listed below).
