Gardening ideas, fun activities, inspiring beauty, eco-friendly and money-saving tips for do-it-yourselfers abound at the 24th annual San Francisco Flower & Garden Show. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Spaces. Beautiful Places.” It is the most cutting-edge of the top five garden shows in the world. Garden lovers at all levels and ages can experience¬ 25 display gardens, free seminars and practical workshops led by gardening experts, exhibits, an educational and activity area for families, and shopping for the finest plants, garden art, tools, green products and specialty items.

WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, March 18 through Sunday, March 22 at the San Mateo Event Center (where Highways 101 and 92 meet), 2495 South Delaware St., San Mateo, 94403. The show is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 24

TICKETS: A one-day adult ticket at the door: $20. Advance ticket online, by phone or at Bay Area nurseries through March 17: $16. Students (18-25): $9 at the door. Youth (6-17) $4. Children 5 and under: free. 2-day ticket is $29. Half-day tickets 3 p.m. to closing Wednesday through Saturday, 2 p.m on Sunday.: $13. All Show Pass: $65. Group tickets: $15.
