23rd Regiment of Foot, the Royal Welch Fusiliers (British) November 23, 2007

First formed in 1689, the 23rd Regiment of Foot was one of the premier regiments of the Crown Forces in North America. This regiment fought in many British campaigns before taking on the American colonists in 1775, fighting in New York, Philadelphia, South Carolina, and Virginia, and even served as marines on British war vessels during the war. Today's regiment is the official American battalion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers and has participated in events in the United States, Canada, England and Wales.
