217 Terror Haunted House October 24, 2008

217 Terror Haunted House was originally built in the 1800's as a residential farm house. As the town progressed the house was used for many different services. Which included a hotel, a brothel, a funeral home and the county morgue.

Over the course of the last 200 years many lives were lost in this home. Some due to natural causes and others due to murder and suicide. It is believed and proven that to this day some of those souls still roam through the rooms.

During the 1800's when the house was being used as a hotel, several travelers stayed at the hotel as a resting place while they were heading west. Some of these travelers included known outlaws. As a result, many travelers as well as several outlaws and some locals lost their lives due to gunfights. It is believed that the souls of some of the outlaws may still be roaming the hallways of the hotel waiting for their next gunfight.

217 Terror purchased the home in 2005 and construction began to transform the home into a commercial haunted house. During the course of the construction many paranormal activities began to happen.

So, in 2006 we invited the Springfield Ghost Society from Springfield Illinois to come in and conduct an investigation. During the course of their investigation their findings proved that 217 Terror Haunted House is truly haunted. Some of their findings included orbs, EVPs, shadowy figures, and physical contact with full body apparitions. Due to their findings several more investigations have been conducted & each with great success.

217 Terror Haunted House has been deemed one of the most active haunted sites in Central Illinois due to Springfield Ghost Society findings.
