1554 Market Street
San Francisco, California 94102

Market Street Gallery is pleased to present "20/20: New photographic works by Najib Joe Hakim" beginning June 2nd through the 30th, with a reception for the photographer on Friday, June 19th, from 6-8pm.

Najib Joe Hakim is a San Francisco freelance photographer and photojournalist. In this new work, Hakim moves away from the editorial and documentary, to find ways to express the vivid world of dreams he has experienced in the past few years, using a mix of playful techniques, all in-camera, all with subjects in plain view, that suggest an inner world of experiences. The resulting photographs are full of mood and suggestion, but little content. These sometimes pretty, sometimes dark pictures are depictions of memories in the making.

Hakim's photographic work has been published in Life, Parenting, Metropolitan Home as well as other national and regional magazines and newspapers. He has exhibited his personal work locally at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the SF Art Commission, Rayko Photo Center and the Krevsky Fine Art Gallery. This is his first exhibition at the Market Street Gallery.

Market Street Gallery exhibits work of established and emerging artists of the San Francisco Bay Area. Exhibitions include all categories of work, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, fashion, street art, installation art and film and video media.

Digital images of the artist's work are available upon request. For more information, please call
Ron Newman at 415-290-1441.

Free and open to the public.
