The Burlingame ArtzFest, happening August 13-14 at Burlingame Avenue, has announced its live music performance line up for its 2011 event, mixing in everything from local up and comers to well seasoned professionals.

On Saturday, August 13th, electricity will fill the air as Livewire, a high-energy 6-piece dance cover band, takes the stage. Based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, Livewire is known as an in-demand party band that is frequently hired to perform at private parties, festivals, and top clubs, including Bimbo's 365 Club, Cache Creek Casino Resort, the Red Devil Lounge, and Harry Denton's Starlight Room. Showcasing an eclectic mix of the best songs from the 70's and 80's through current rock and dance hits, the band accurately covers a wide range of music, including such favorites as Journey, The Jackson 5 and Rihanna.

The Hitmen have been delivering high energy dance music for audiences at benefits, festivals, fairs, concerts, nightclubs, and many other private functions for over 14 years. The unique musical background of the 7-piece band mixes their abilities and experiences to create and perform a musical dance review that transcends traditional musical boundaries. The Hitmen play a variety of hits from the 70's to modern day favorites and have performed with such artists as Cameo, the Ohio Players and members of Santana and Tower of Power.

On Sunday, August 14th the heat is on as Lava, also a Bay Area based band, adds some Latin spice to the ArtzFest stage. Lava covers a wide range of musical genres, including: Latin Jazz, Cha-Cha-Cha, Latin Rock, Latin Funk, and Salsa. The nine-piece band features Mio "Timbalero" Flores on Timbales. Percussionist extradonaire, he has either worked with, collaborated with, or been on tour with Malo, Pete Escovedo, War, and Los Mocosos who opened up for Santana on the 2004 Santana Shaman Tour. Lava covers such artists as Santana, Malo, Poncho Sanchez and War, as well as a number of standards that have been in the top 40 over the past 30 years.

Because of its popularity last year, the Burlingame ArtzFest has brought back the community stage and will feature a myriad of local performers and talent. The Burlingame Bollywood Dancers and the Millbrae Dance Academy will showcase unique dance routines, and the local band "Group Therapy", is slated to play sets of their adult soft rock. Many of the "Burlingame Idol” finalists and winners will grace the stage throughout the weekend, and there will even be comedic skits as “Acting Out and About”, the Burlingame Community Theatre Troupe, performs a "The Punny Show" - a theatrical experience based on puns.

In addition to live entertainment, the event boasts over 150 vendors showcasing their original crafts, works of art, and specialty foods. For the sustainable home dweller, the Burlingame ArtzFest will once again highlight a special Home, Garden and Green section for those with a special interest in all things green. Plus, the whole family will enjoy the special kid’s area, set on a side street and featuring rides and youth entertainment, such as clowns and train rides.

“The ArtzFest is one of our biggest fundraisers,” said Georgette Naylor, CEO of the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce. “We are really depending on peninsula residents to come out and support their community by enjoying the day here. The great thing about the ArtzFest is that there is truly something for everyone.”
