If you attend only one Portland, Oregon event this year, make sure it's the 2010 OMSI Space Gala. This highly anticipated black-tie fundraiser supports the non-profit Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). More than 800 guests are anticipated to join OMSI on January 23, 2010 for an evening of entertainment, science education, dinner and cocktails.

OMSI's Water Avenue location will be transformed into an out-of-this-world experience as guests arrive in tuxedos, tennis shoes, gowns, sneakers and maybe moon boots to explore the mysteries of space discovery. Mingle with friends and special guests throughout the museum as you savor lush buffets and signature cocktails.

Through this truly unique experience, you will help raise awareness for science education, while having a blast at OMSI like never before.

EVENT UPDATE: We are pleased to announce our special guest to the Gala event, astronaut Michael Reed Barratt, M.D. As a child, Dr. Barratt frequently visited OMSI where his mother volunteered while he attended classes. Visit with Dr. Barratt in the OMNIMAX Dome Theater to learn how his experiences as an "OMSI Kid" encouraged him to become an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.
