What is W.O.M.E.N.?

The Entrepreneurial Development & Assistance Center (EDAC) created W.O.M.E.N. out of a need to further the efforts of women that receive business and professional services from EDAC.

The mission of W.O.M.E.N. is to create a network of resources to support women that want to develop and retain privately owned competitive businesses.

What will happen at this conference?

Practical seminars for women starting, running or growing their own businesses, including panel discussions, networking strategies, and resource and referral information. Participants will receive tools to help create an Annual Action Plan based on three areas leadership, entrepreneurship, and self - improvement.

The goal is to have participants unveil accomplishments and prepare new task for the following year. The conference is a chance for women to come together to share information, discuss their businesses, educate each other about their local business markets and most importantly, forge partnerships and create a database of fellow women-in-business resources. Additionally, the conference will feature interactive workshops, vending opportunities, recognizing outstanding women, and scholarships gifts.

Who is the audience?

The target audience is primarily women (most over age 30), although the conference integrates a mix of young women ranging in age from 12-21. We encourage mothers to attend with their daughters, sisters to attend with their sisters, aunts and other women. One of the major goals is to create a buddy system that will become a sounding board to help all participants achieve tasks on their Annual Action Plan.

I traveled from New Jersey to attend the conference. It was very nice and I look forward to attend more conferences in the near future.

I thoroughly enjoyed the W.O.M.E.N. conference, the weather may have been bad but the sun was shining in the place. The information provided from some incredible women was inspirational. The fellowship with women in business or thinking about going into business was food for the soul on a rainy afternoon. I had a great time, even ran into a friend that I had not seen in a few years and she even had a WORD I needed to hear. It was a blessing, what a great day. I look forward to next years conference.

The rain may have been pouring down outside on that Saturday; however, it was truly sunshining inside the during the WOMEN's conference. All day, women were being uplifted, enlightened, and empowered on a personal and business level. I've received a couple of direct e-mails from attendees and speakers, as I'm quite sure many of you have as well, and the overwhelming response was it was a great experience for the attendees.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be served!
