The brainchild of Harvey and television/radio producer Rushion McDonald, the Hoodie Awards on Aug.15 honors local business establishments, religious and community leaders, churches and high schools for their contributions and excellence within various neighborhoods.



The 12 categories are: BestChurch, Best BeautySalon, Best CommunityLeader, BestBarbershop, Best High School Teacher, Best Fried ChickenPlace, Best Soul Food Place, Best HighSchool, Best Car Wash/Detail Shop, Best Bar-B-Que Place,Best NailSalon, Best Church Choir.

Past celebs presenters included the OJays, Anthony Anderson, Michael Clarke Duncan, MoNique, Tichina Arnold, Stephen A. Smith, Niecy Nash, Anthony Hamilton, Musiq, Tonex, Wendy Raquel Robinson, VH1s New York, Salli Richardson, Montel Williams, Yolanda Adams and Cedric The Entertainer.
