Winners of the Championship Sections (Individual and Team) will be 2009 Maryland Scholastic Champion
This is an individual and combined individual team tournament. Team scores are the top four players from the same school in each section. Schools may enter an unlimited number of players in a section and the top four scores will be the team score.
Eight Sections - All are five round swiss
Two-Day Sections - Rounds 1-3 Game/65, Rounds 4 and 5 Game/90; Schedule: Sat 10-12:30-3, Sun 9-12:15 [If requested before round two, a 1/2 point bye is available for the Sunday 9am round.]

High School Championship [Grades 9-12 only, any rating or unrated], Trophies to top 10 individuals and top3 teamsWinner will be the Maryland representative to the Denker Invitational. The winner will be provided with a stipend to help with expenses at the Denker. If there is a tie for first place, a blitz playoff will determine the Denker representative.
Middle School Championship [Grades 6-8 only, any rating or unrated], Trophies to top 10 individuals and top3 teams.
Elementary School Championship [Grades K-5 only, any rating or unrated], Trophies to top 15 individuals and top 10 teams.

Saturday Only One-Day Sections - Game/30 - First round 9:30, then ASAP

Primary School Championship [Grades K-3 only, any rating or unrated], Trophies to top 10 individuals and top3 teams.
High School Junior Varsity [Grades 9-12 only and rated either under 1000 or unrated], Trophies to top 7 individuals and top 3 teams.
Middle School Junior Varsity [Grades 6-8 only and rated either under 800 or unrated], Trophies to top 10 individuals and top 5 teams.
Elementary School Junior Varsity [Grades K-5 only and either rated under 600 or unrated], Trophies to top 20 individuals and top 10 teams.
Primary School Junior Varsity [Grades K-3 only and rated either under 400 or unrated], Trophies to top 10 individuals and top 3 teams.
