Farmers Markets Season Begins in May
Farm Fresh Produce and Baked Goods Available
This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Chicago Farmers Markets, presented by the Mayor’s Office of Special Events.The City of Chicago Farmers Markets system includes dozens of markets located throughout the metro area. During this event, farmers from across the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan) participate offering the freshest fruits , baked goods and vegetables. Find the fruits of the Midwest, May through October, including asparagus, lettuce, onions, spinach, corn, tomatoes, collards, watermelon, herbs, apples and baked goods. Markets are held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays. Farmers and producers who grow or produce their own products participate. Other items you will find, but not limited to, include organic and non-organic fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, cheese, breads, flowers, honey, jam, pies, nuts and plants.
The Chicago Farmers Market system goal is to become more sustainable and the consumer can help by bringing their own bag(s) to use.
