In order to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, iMandarin and ShanghaiExpat are going to organize a Dragon Boat Race in this coming June, 2008. Dragon Boat Race is always regarded as the largest and most exciting event of a year. Here, with great pressure, we would like to invite you & your friends to attend this large-scale event.

Below is the detailed information about this event.

Adrenaline-pumping rowing racing will unfold on a misty 3km waterway in suburban Qingpu District on June 8.

Paddlers of different nationalities will compete in a traditional Chinese water sport that dates from 278 BC when Qu Yuan, a beloved minister and poet in the State of Chu, drowned himself in Miluo River in prοtest against a corrupt throne. His suicide drew rescuers from nearby villages.

Sign up now for a weekend of white-knuckle excitement and team spirit. The rowing rally follows an hour of coaching and warm-up exercises. Each of the 12 dragon boats can carry 18 paddlers. Participants must be aged over 16.

Sign-up fee:

RMB 220 / person for paddlers;

RMB 130 / person for non-paddlers

RMB 4500 / team (18 paddlers + 1 drummer)
