Please join us as we present the 2008 Tom Roberts Prize for Creative Achievement in the Humanities to Robert D. Billington, Ed.D.

The Tom Roberts Prize is awarded to an individual or group whose work blends the wisdom and methods of the humanities in inventive, original, and imaginative ways, and is distinguished by public appeal.

This year, were honoring Dr. Robert D. Billington. Throughout his career, Dr. Billington has passionately refocused the lens through which local, regional, national, and even international institutions view the history, architecture, landscape, and life in the birthplace of Americas Industrial Revolution: the Blackstone Valley. As founder of the award-winning Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, and creator of the Tour Rhode Island, There's No Place Like Home, he is unique in having attracted as much attention from people interested in American history as in models of local economic development.

We embrace his visionary thinking, applaud his ability to communicate the value of the humanities with an engaging flair, and celebrate his many achievements.

In addition to the award presentation, we will be showcasing recent grantee work and enjoying musical entertainment, wine and hors d'oeuvres, and our first-ever silent auction.
