2008: A Voyage to Margaritaville December 31, 2007

Take a Slow Boat to '08 on the Potomac River aboard the Cherry Blossom as we ring in the New Year in Tropical style!! Two live bands will crank up the fun simultaneously, each on a different deck. There will be open bars, a champagne toast, and party favors. This event has everything you are expecting from a New Year's Eve Party, but instead of being cooped up in yet another hotel, or the same old bar you go to every week, you will be cruising the Potomac at a unique party on a unique boat. What's even better, you can start out the new year having fun and helping a great cause as proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association!

More Details:

The Cherry Blossom is a re-creation of a 19th century Victorian riverboat, complete with ornate iron railings and a plush interior of brass and mahogany. She is an authentic split sternwheeler, which means that her paddle wheel both propels and steers the ship. Her two interior salons are heated for comfort while her open-air Hurricane and Texas decks (3rd & 4th decks) provide sweeping views of the city-scapes of Alexandria and DC and an opportunity for romantics to bring in the New Year in the moon light. She is docked at the foot of King Street, at the Alexandria City Docks behind the Torpedo Factory in Historic Old Town Alexandria.

Mango Mikes Caribbean Restaurant in Alexandria will cater the event. Their highly trained and professional staff will be cooking up the Island Buffet (heavy hors d'oeuvres) and staffing the two bars on the ship to make sure that nobody runs dry. (www.mangomikes.com)

The Smalltown Band is a 4 piece band which will rock the party on the Main Deck. They play a wide variety of music from pop, folk, and “standards” to Jimmy Buffett-syle Caribbean tunes, to gut-busing Rock & Roll. Tall Paul & Crawdaddy will be playing on the Boiler Deck. Tall Paul is a highly charged live performer. He has played all over the globe and manages to showcase his extraordinary knowledge of rock, pop & bluegrass music along side his ability to entertain an audience… showing why he was voted one of Nashville’s best rock performers by the Nashville Scene His bands have opened for major national acts, including Jimmy Buffett.
