In collaboration with Earth Day 2010, Magnolia Manor Retirement Center is holding its 1st Annual Green Day Celebration. Magnolia Manor residents and staff invite older adults and generations of all ages to get involved in the Recycle Americus Campaign by collecting old newspapers beginning today. Once you have collected your newspapers, drop them off in the recycle bin in the Chapel parking lot of the Magnolia Manor Retirement Center by Thursday, April 22, 2010. The goal is to collect 500 pounds of newspaper to be delivered to local recycling centers.

In addition to the 2010 recycling efforts, Mayor Barry Blount and representatives from Georgia Power and the City of Americus Public Works Department will participate in a Green Day Celebration. The program will take place on the Magnolia Manor Retirement Center campus on Thursday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend the program to learn more on green initiatives that can help you save money at home and in the office.

For more information on the Green Day Celebration to be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 on the Magnolia Manor campus, 2001 S. Lee Street, Americus, please contact Holly Whitehead at (229) 931-5923.
