For nearly two decades, this fascinating film festival, hosted by the James River Film Society, has showcased a variety of major film innovators.

On opening night, there will be a reception open to the public, followed by a talk at 7 by guest critic Scott MacDonald.

He will hosts a program of experimental film “nocturnes,” featuring filmmakers Peter Hutton, Phil Solomon, Chick Strand, Rebecca Meyes, and Laura Waddington. Mr. MacDonald is an internationally recognized critical voice, frequent contributor to film publications, and professor at Utica College – Syracuse in New York.
