186,281: A solo exhibition by Bentley Meeker at Gallery 151

Lighting artist Bentley Meeker will debut his latest exhibition "186,281" at Gallery 151 (132 W. 18 St. NYC) on May 9th, which will be on display through June 15, 2013. Named for the speed of light, Meeker's collection will showcase a variety of beautiful, abstract resin forms, enhanced and transformed by strategically placed LED and incandescent lighting to create a new, multi-sensory platform and exploration into the quality of light itself.

Meeker, who recently exhibited at The Whitney Museum of Art and the Burning Man Festival, uses light to change one's perspective emotionally, physically, and spiritually. "186,281," which includes 20 original works presented in 40" x 40" frames, promises to provoke modernists' fascination and inspire the future of the medium.

For over two decades Meeker has explored the sustainability, functionality, and value of light in art, fashion, design, commerce, and life. His utilization of light, creating different shades, highlights and angles, as many great artists used a brush on canvas, is sure to jettison the viewer into the 21st century and into the possibilities of the next "new wave" of art.
