A Mother's Day tradition in the Delaware Valley, the 17th annual Susan G. Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure® will be held Sunday, May 13th, 2007 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art/Eakins Oval. Everyone is invited to join the more than 40,000 participants who gather to "Embrace the Hope and Empower the Promise" to end breast cancer forever.

Festivities begin at 6 AM. The most memorable feature of the day will be the Parade of Pink at 7:30AM, featuring 4,000+ area breast cancer survivors marching in triumph down the steps of the Art Museum. The 5K Run/5K Walk and 1-mile Fun Walk follow.

Other highlights include: Opening ceremonies hosted by the Women of CBS 3 Eyewitness News, guest appearances by local celebrities and leaders, live music and dance performances, Sponsors Alley with great giveaways, Komen Souvenir Boutiques, Children's Funfest, award ceremony, prizes giveaways, and breakfast treats compliments of Wawa.

Last year's Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure attracted 36,500 people, and raised over $3.5 million. The Komen Race for the Cure series is the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer.

Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate stays in the Delaware Valley while the remaining income goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs supporting research, awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
