Over 1.4 million Americans suffer from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a chronic digestive disorder of the small and large intestine. The two main types of IBD are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. If you are interested in learning more about the management and treatment of IBD, the Illinois Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation urges you to attend their 16th Annual Patient and Family Education Conference and Medical Symposium.

The Patient and Family Program and the Parents’, Teens’ and Kids’ Workshop will run from 9:00am-1:00pm. Topics will include:

• Update on Current Therapies in IBD
• Pregnancy and Fertility Issues for Men and Women with IBD
• What is Next for Treatment? Emerging Therapies in IBD
• Nutrition and IBD
• The Road to Independence (Parent Program)

The Medical Symposium is a full-day accredited program covering state-of-the-art clinical practices for the Gastroenterologist, Fellow, Nurse and Health Professional. A faculty of internationally renowned experts will discuss medical and integrative approaches for managing IBD.

The Medical Symposium will run from 8:00am-3:00pm and will include topics on:

• Update Practice Guidelines for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
• Burden of IBD: How big is the Problem and What Are the Reasons for It?
• Loss of Response to Infliximab-Use of Levels
• Infusion of Biologics: What do you Need to Know?
