A meet-up for programmers, web developers and designers to discuss and showcase their "£5 apps" - lightweight software created by one or two people who take a simple idea and run with it.
The discussion will range from technical (what tools/languages were used during development) to business (building communities, spreading the word, costs and rewards).
In the first meet-up Ian Ozsvald will be discussing how he and Kyran Dale built the technical-tutorials-by-video ShowMeDo.com (http://showmedo.com) in their evenings. John Montgomery will be talking about creating "chrss" - a simple chess by rss service (http://psychicorigami.com/chrss/). Both apps were written in Python using Turbogears. Both talks will take about 20 minutes, followed by questions, followed by the pub.
Two of the next (tentatively arranged) three speakers will be discussing Rails apps. If you have any "£5 apps" that you'd like to showcase, whether it's a web app, open-source, freeware, shareware, commercial or otherwise, we'd love to hear from you.
(seating is not as bad as we thought, so no need to worry too much)
