The Paine Field Chapter of the Washington Pilots Association is hosting the 14th annual General Aviation Day Festival at Paine Field outside the Flying Heritage Collection. The festival begins at 8:00 A.M. with the Fly Day 5K around Paine Field followed by a pancake breakfast hosted by the Paine Field Firefighters to benefit the Northwest Burn Foundation.

General Aviation Day includes many exciting activities for all ages. Youths can enjoy free flights over beautiful Snohomish County hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles. The Flying Heritage Collection and other local aviation organizations will display their remarkable aircraft and demonstrate their capabilities during flyovers beginning at noon. Guests can meet local pilots and enjoy delicious food from the Taste of Mukilteo.

Paine Field Fire Fighters Fly Day 5K and Pancake Breakfast
The starting gun for the first-ever Fly Day 5K will sound off at 8:00 A.M. sending runners and walkers of all ages all around Paine Field. Hosted by the Paine Field Fire Fighters, the Fly Day 5K will benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Mukilteo Special Olympics. Register at http://www.painefield.com/FlyDay5k.html.

The Paine Field Firefighters will also host a pancake breakfast at 9:00 A.M. The cost is $5.00 per person which will benefit the Northwest Burn Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides hope and comfort for young burn survivors.
Free Flights over Snohomish (Ages 8-17)
The EAA Young Eagles Program is hosting free flights over Snohomish County for children and teens ages 8 to 17. The Young Eagle Program provides future pilots the chance to experience flight in an exciting and safe environment under the care of experienced pilots. Last year, more than 200 children were treated to a free and unforgettable flight.

Children’s Activity Tent
Youths of all ages can enjoy children’s activity tent which features free arts, crafts, face painting and games. The Museum of Flight will also host the Flying Gizmo Show, a fun and exciting education program that chronicles the history of aviation and demonstrates the principles of flight.

Flyovers and Vintage Displays
Throughout the day, the event will feature classic military aircraft from the Cascade Warbirds, the Flying Heritage Collection and various other local aviation groups. The Flying Heritage Collection is offering half off admission prices to all General Aviation Day attendees.

Philanthropist Paul G. Allen’s Flying Heritage Collection will kick off the flyovers at 12:00 P.M. This iconic collection features World War II-era fighter planes in flying condition. The Blackjack Squadron, comprised of Arlington pilots, features elaborate 10-15 aircraft in formation following the Flying Heritage Collection. Various other local aviation organizations will showcase their aircrafts in flight throughout the afternoon.

Future Fly Days
General Aviation Day will kick off the Flying Heritage Collection’s Summer Fly Days event series. Legendary WWII-era fighter planes will take to the sky on various Saturdays from May 16 until September 19, and the public can enjoy it all for free. The second Fly Day will take place Saturday, June 6 on the one-year anniversary of the Flying Heritage Collection.

The Flying Heritage Collection will also host a Memorial Day event to honor and recognize World War II veterans. General Aviation Day attendees will receive a 15 percent discount at the Flying Heritage Collection gift shop on Memorial Day. Please visit www.flyingheritage.com for more details.

Taste of Mukilteo
Presented by the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce, the Taste of Mukilteo will bring together the best of local dining in one flavor-filled location at 11:30 A.M. For just $1.00 per ticket, guests will have the opportunity to sample delectable dishes from a diverse selection of local restaurants and enjoy various carnival rides.

Everett Kiwanis BBQ
Guests can also enjoy burgers and hot dogs cooked to taste by the Everett chapter of Kiwanis International during lunch at 11:30 A.M. Kiwanis International is a nonprofit organization which will be fundraising to support its mission of developing character and leadership in local youth.
