114 West Broad St
Richmond, Virginia

This spring on May 1, 2010 we will celebrate the 13th Anniversary of the Fairy Tale Ball and the 23rd Anniversary of Theatre IV’s ownership and management of downtown Richmond’s magnificent Empire, the oldest extant theatre in Virginia. This costume-optional formal event will be held in conjunction with our Family Playhouse season finale, The Sound of Music, and will prove to be a night for the whole family to remember. The entire theatre complex will transform in honor of this season’s theme, Adventures in the Alps. With a cocktail buffet, children’s activities, live music, an auction, costumed characters and more this event gives children the opportunity for a black tie night on the town with mom, dad and grandparents. This event has grown to be Richmond’s signature Family Gala with over 700 attendees each year and has raised over $700,000 in support of Theatre IV’s work with children.

What is this money used for?: All proceeds from each year’s Fairy Tale Ball are used to share Theatre IV’s nationally acclaimed programs with less advantaged families and schools, and to support our innovative health programs, including Hugs and Kisses, Virginia’s principal child sexual abuse prevention program since 1983. Proceeds help Theatre IV bring the arts to thousands of children and families from Virginia’s most challenged neighborhoods.
