11th Annual Oktoberfest by the Bay – The largest festival of its kind in California brings the spirit of Munich, German to the City by the Bay! The first Oktoberfest in Munich started in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Today, the Oktoberfest in Munich is the largest festival in the world, with an international flavor characteristic of the 20th century. 2010 marks the 200th anniversary of this time honored tradition. Every year, Oktoberfest starts the third weekend in September. In keeping with German tradition, this years Oktoberfest by the Bay will be held the last weekend of September.
