WHY RIDE NAKED THROUGH YORK?

The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an annual event to draw attention to the foolishness of oil dependency and celebrate the power of the human body. The use of oil causes pollution, global warming and leads to war and injustice. It is also running out.

The WNBR is an international movement, with rides taking place in many locations in the UK and around the world. Riding naked emphasises the vulnerability of cyclists in traffic and results in some people noticing us for the first time! Do something a little crazy to protest against the utter madness of "car culture" and its devastating effects.

YES, BUT DO I HAVE TO CYCLE NUDE?

That's entirely up to you! Many do, but others wear minimal clothing, body paint, face masks or wigs - whatever you feel comfortable with. Last year nearly 100 riders like you took part in YORK alone. If you're worried about being arrested, don't be: firstly nudity is not illegal and secondly the police are fully aware of the ride and recognise our ride to protest naked.

Join us for another fun and peaceful protest. Bring bells, whistles, slogans and a bag or pannier for your clothes. Assemble from 5 pm. The ride sets off at 6 pm.
