YFPA & Project Pearls Typhoon Sendong Aid Fundraiser January 4, 2012

Another powerful storm and the deadliest this year, Typhoon Sendong, ravaged southern Philippines, particularly Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

Flash floods caused by heavy rains killed over a thousand people with hundreds more missing. Thousands of families are homeless and displaced. Tens of thousands are now living in evacuation centers - cold, hungry and shocked

YFPA is partnering up with Project Pearls' disaster relief efforts. We are raising funds to help typhoon survivors in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Iligan City. Funds will be used to buy relief goods at these evacuation centers.

Cagayan de Oro :
Together with our friends from PHOTO KALYE

(http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/photokalye/), we will be helping families at Sitio Calapacan located at Tibasak, Macasandig where the entire 300 homes in that sitio were completely washed out.

Iligan City:
In support of SAGIP ILIGAN, MSU-IIT IDS Batch 2000 Relief Operations of MSU-IIT (Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology), we will be helping the families at MSU-IIT gym, the largest evacuation center right now in Iligan City.

We will have reps from Project Pearls (www.projectpearls.org) at the mixer to talk about this fundraiser and may others projects they are involved in.
