Copacabana Beach
Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro

Where better to celebrate gay and lesbian pride than Rio de Janeiro, where grown men aren't scared to wear dresses. The Pride Parade takes place next to Copacabana Beach.

The city's Pride Parade first took place in 1995 and now attracts a crowd of around 100,000. There are numerous decorated floats and Pride organisers are keen to include other minorities in the march too - with women's groups and black groups also represented.

A good source of information about the gay scene in the city can be found here http://www.riogayguide.com/.
