Park City's historic Egyptian Theatre celebrates World Take A Child to The Theatre Day with a FREE multi-media, mini production by The Egyptian YouTheatre, Wednesday, March 20th.

Created by the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People, World Take A Child to The Theatre Day encourages introducing children and youth to performance arts around the globe.

Theatre arts, whether watched or practiced, causes all of us to develop our sense of empathy, an important social trait for creating strong societies. We must engage in active listening, and focus our attention on the here and now. We follow a story through the words of the actor and playwright, we engage with their passions and troubles, thrill to their achievements, and cry with their losses. This engagement is particularly necessary in a more "connected" but less empathetic world.

Dramatist and theatre essayist, Laura Gunderson, says, "If you take a child to the theater, not only will they practice empathy, they might also laugh uproariously, or come home singing about science, or want to know more about history, or tell you what happened at school today, or spend all dinner discussing music, or learn how to handle conflict, or start becoming future patrons of the arts."
