CCCT and TCL Join Forces to Present World Premieres of
2 Award-winning Plays by Local Playwright
LOUISVILLE, CO – Coal Creek Community Theater (CCCT) and the Theatre Company of Lafayette (TCL) present the world premieres of Shakespeare Incorporated and Postville, 2 award-winning plays by local playwright, Don Fried. Shakespeare Incorporated, directed by Lynn Fleming, will be presented by CCCT February 26 - March 13 at the Louisville Center for the Arts. Postville, directed by James O’Leary, will be presented by TCL March 5 - March 27 at the Historic Mary Miller Theatre.

Who really wrote the works attributed to the Bard of Avon? In the riotous historical comedy Shakespeare Incorporated, it definitely isn’t the hopelessly untalented playwright wannabe, William Shaksper (sic). He’s just the front for an ever expanding group of aristocrats, ghost-writers, consultants and scoundrels. Shakespeare Incorporated won first prize in the 2009 Rocky Mountain Theater Association Playwriting Competition and was one of the selections of Paragon Theater’s 2009 Trench New Play Development Program.

In Postville, when a group of Hassidic Jews from Brooklyn come to a struggling Midwest town to re-open the defunct meat-packing plant as a kosher facility, the locals think their problems are over. But an epic culture clash ensues that transforms the American melting pot into a pressure cooker that explodes. Literally! Postville is a comedy about serious contemporary issues. The work was one of the selections of the 2009 Playwrights Showcase of the Western Region, a competition for writers from all states west of the Mississippi River.
