"Sometimes a musician has such an inborn desire to communicate that her message naturally becomes universal... such is the case with the Ukrainian singer Mariana Sadovska"
-THE NEW YORK TIMES

Mariana Sadovska is a gifted and experienced teacher of workshops in Ukrainian "white voice" (open throat) singing and physical theater. In her workshops she shares techniques she has learned and developed through her worldwide travels. She has led workshops at the Grotowski Center (Poland), Giving Voice Festival and The Royal Shakespeare Co. (UK), International Workshop Festival (Israel), and at numerous universities including Princeton, Harvard, Swarthmore, Colombia, NYU, and the University of Kabul in Afghanistan.

For many years, Sadovska has led workshops emphasizing the "open-throat" or "white voice" singing from Eastern European musical traditions. Based on her experience as principal performer and music director/composer with the world renowned Polish experimental/anthropological theater company, Gardzienice, she has developed a system of exercises for enabling participants to discover the connections between movement and singing, gesture and sound, rhythm and breath. To encourage participants to authentically express the essence of each piece, Sadovska creates a "collective memory for an ancient community" by introducing singers to the ritual, social, and daily life origins of each song she teaches.
