Winter Fest is a greater downtown wide event that has combined several smaller separate events that have been going on in the historic districts of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
It includes the Alameda Depot and Mesquite Historic Districts and our newly restored Main Street Downtown as well as the downtown mall where the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market occures every Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
We will have thousands of Luminarias in both Historic neighborhoods linked all the way through Downtown with free horse drawn carriage rides that will take passengers to and from the neighborhood parks and downtown all evening. There will be a Holiday Market on Main Street in front of the Rio Grande theatre with the many shops and galleries open all evening. With 40 plus vendors including food, crafts and singing and dancing you should have a great kickoff to your holday season. If you walk or take the free carriage ride to Pioneer Womens Park just west of downtown you will find Christmas Carolers and free hot drinks and food with entertainment both at the park, in the WIA building and acroos Court Ave in the Courth Youth Center and Alma d' arte Charter High School. The food and drinks will be provided by Alma's culinary arts classes.
You can visit Santa at the RailRoad museum and later at Kleing Park in the Mesquite Historic District on the East side of downtown. The annual lighting of the tree ceremony will be hosted by the City of Las Cruces on the north end of the downtown mall and farmers market at 5:30 PM to kick off this great event.
