Toast Colorado fine wines at “Wines for the Holidays” Wine Tasting in Arvada on Friday, November 7. Presented by the Arvada Festivals Commission to raise funds and food donations for the Arvada Community Food Bank.


Wines for the Holidays - Friday, November 7, 6 - 8:30 p.m.
The Second Annual “Wines for the Holidays” Wine Tasting takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at The Egg Shell Restaurant located at 5777 Olde Wadsworth Blvd Arvada, CO 80002.


Whether a wine aficionado or neophyte this event affords the opportunity to savor over seventy-five varieties of wine printed by Front Range wineries. Over seventy-five varieties of wines will be presented by Front Range wineries Balistreri, Spero, Creekside and Turquoise. Learn about deep rubies, refreshing whites, and balanced blends. Increase your understanding of the subtle flavors derived from pairing wines with holiday food. A sampling of delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts compliment the wines and has been generously donated by local restaurants and chefs. Wines will be available for purchase.


Guests will be treated to souvenir wine glasses and complimentary recipe cards featuring some of the wineries’ favorite food dishes. Generous community businesses and individuals have donated an abundant array of silent auction items that includes dining and entertainment certificates, spa packages, sports certificates, theater tickets, golf packages, gift baskets, jewelry, art and other tempting items.

Proceeds from the events benefit the Arvada Community Food Bank.


Last year’s event drew over 165 guests who helped raise $6,000 for the Arvada Community Food Bank, according to co-chairs Nancy Bentzen and Lynn Heinecamp.


The Arvada Community Food Bank opened in 1982 through the efforts of Arvada churches, the Arvada Resources for Ministry and Spirit, the Arvada Human Services Department and the Arvada Community Resources Association.


The mission of the Arvada Community Food Bank is to provide emergency food service to needy persons living in the northern section of Jefferson County. Food is received through donations from area churches, businesses, service clubs, schools, organizations and individuals to provide over 8,000 boxes containing a 3 day supply of food in our area. In 2004, 552 households were served over the Thanksgiving holiday.
