A contract veterinarian, Dr. McCauley has worked with Wildlife Conservation Society on mountain peaks throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and beyond since 2005. Her tasks entail immobilizing and surgically implanting wolverines with radio-transmitters in the field. She has also worked with Fish Wildlife and Parks on various projects, including BHS translocations, Bison Quarantine testing, and bear immoblizations. She helped to diagnose a new tapeworm echinococcus in the Montana wolves.

A glimpse of her work last year: Bighorn Sheep capture in Colorado, Rhino translocation in South Africa, Mountain Goat project in Glacier National Park, Wolverine research in GYE, Takin immobilizations at San Diego Zoo and the Wilds in Ohio, Grizzly Bear research in Idaho, Tiger research in Nepal.... and ZooMontana in between.

Sponsored by the Madison Gallatin Chapter of the Montana Wilderness Association, “Wilderness and…” is a series of lectures recommended for area newcomers, families, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone with a passion for wild places and protecting Montana’s wildlands. This program is free and open to the public. The event is held in the Weaver Room, upstairs.
