This two-hour workshop is perfect for homeschoolers, but open to students of all kinds. Children will explore the natural world through hands-on, child-centered lessons, group projects, and up-close encounters with some of the Zoo's animal ambassadors. Session activities will emphasize science principles and include take-home activities to encourage continued learning and investigation. Wild Science programs meet AZ State Academic Standards and class sizes are small so register early for this very special program! May The Science of Zoos--Everyone loves the Zoo because it allows us to come face-to-face with incredible animals from all over the world, but what you see on the surface is just the beginning. Behind the scenes the Zoo is full of wild science in every field imaginable. There are ongoing ecological studies of animal behavior, veterinarians ensuring the health and safety of all animals, conservation scientists working to replenish many endangered species, dieticians concocting the perfect combinations of food through research and testing, and much more. In "the Science of Zoos" students will learn all about the science going on behind the scenes with exclusive tours, interviews and animal interactions. Your child will come away with a new appreciation for all the many scientific parts that make up the Zoo's whole (and maybe even a new future career path)!
