Whirlybones Circus Arts Spectacular with Wazozo May 28, 2008

For the second year, the aerialists, stripteasers, clowns and myriad mischief makers of the Whirlybones Variety Arts Collective bring their circus antics to the stage for a variety show spectacular. Performers from local groups including the Fleur de Tease burlesque troupe, the New Orleans Bingo! Show's rock 'n' roll cabaret, the Aurora Aerial trapeze ensemble and other theatrical organizations have pulled together an evening of beguiling human tricks including, but not limited to, comedy, stilt-walking, acrobatics, gymnastics, clowning, hula-hooping, dance, sketch theater and other conventions of the vaudevillian stage and carnival tent. Haunting chansons and musettes are provided by Wazozo, a group with shifting membership and numbers headed up by the winsome improvisational cellist Helen Gillet. Tickets $8. — Alison Fensterstock
