June 10
*Traditions of the First Nations* - Understanding the Native people. Councils (Government structure), Family (Roles), Clans (Family & Group system), Moonlodge (Women’s moon time) and more.

June 17
*Black Indians* - The combination of African/Native people. Prior, During and after slavery. Also nations most influenced from this and the affect it has in America and the Nations from the Caribbean Islands which includes the *Taino/Carab/Arawak - *People from Puerto Rico, Haiti/Dominican Republic and South America. Also, history in the US that deals with The Triangle Slave Trade, 5 Civilized Nations, Blood Act, Schools and Military. With the Question remains…… WHO ARE WE!



June 24
*Traditional Dances/Drumming*—Understanding native drumming technique,
songs and different dance styles. Also the influence that African/Native
Dance traditions have in today’s music & dance.
Special instructor: Makeda Voletta
Also, Understanding the sexual/sensual history of dance!
